Bird Watching
There are three distinct habitats for bird watching on the ranch – the lake, the forest and the meadow.
We welcome a pair of Sand Hill Cranes arriving every spring to nest on an island in the lake. The colt swims with its parents to the shore, then they carefully walk to hunt the meadow. Everything stops while we wait for their safe passage to the meadow.
Bald Eagles, Osprey, Canada Geese, varieties of ducks, Grebes, Coots, Kestrels, Mountain Bluebirds, Kingfishers and Whippoorwills are a few of the myriad of birds found on the ranch. Our library has many nature books which we lend out.
